Venice Consulting’s principals possess many years of cumulative hands-on experience. Our principals leverage their expertise and rolodexes to help both enterprise and start up clients navigate and succeed in an increasingly more complex marketplace.

KevinKevin Berson is an MBA with 18 years experience driving business/corporate development, partnerships and new product initiatives within media and technology.  Prior to Venice Consulting, Kevin spent 11 years at Technicolor in leadership roles in Business Development, Product Management and Strategy and Acquisitions. As a founding member of Technicolor Ventures, Kevin co-founded Creative District, the ‘LinkedIn for Creatives,’ which is a platform enabling artists to showcase their work, maintain professional networks, collaborate and find opportunities.  Prior to joining Technicolor, Kevin spent six years at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting where he led strategy and technology engagements for multi-national media and entertainment firms.

Kevin has an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at USC and a BA in Political Science/Business from UCLA.

JoeJoe Cane is a JD/MBA with over 20 years experience representing clients with complex business and financial transactions, including public/private securities transactions, M&A, joint ventures, strategic alliances, private equity and debt financings, IP protection, licensing, corporate formation and governance. Joe is the founder and managing partner of Business Law Professional Corporation (BLPC), a business and entertainment law firm. Prior to founding BLPC, Joe served in executive general counsel for DECA, and in a corporate development role for Sony Corporation of America, where he sourced and negotiated music and video digital distribution deals.  Prior to his corporate roles, Joe worked for several top tier national law firms.

Joe received his BA from Cornell University in applied economics and business management, his JD from Loyola Law School and his MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.

Brett Dovman is an MBA with 6 years of experience creating and building start-up companies. Most recently Brett founded Perfect Squad, a fantasy sports website that provides a unique twist to the standard game play. Prior to Perfect Squad, Brett founded Panelfly, a digital media start-up that focused on leveraging content to create in-depth experiences across digital platforms. He has a skill set that includes the management of internal and external resources, sales, business development, content acquisition and licensing, strategy and organizational decision-making, and legal/business affairs. Additionally, he has operational efficiency in growing teams, managing finances and keeping everyone focused on working towards an ultimate vision.

Brett has an MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University.

joelJoel Karp is an MBA with over 16 years experience bringing emerging concepts to market and creating the strategic business alliances required to competitively position products and services. Most recently, Joel led the development of Hyundai Motor America’s in-vehicle app strategy.  He also was an early member of Softcard (formerly Isis Mobile Commerce), a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon where he led negotiations on key strategic deals. Prior to Softcard, Joel was responsible for defining the functionality of both the ereader device and cloud-based ebook store for the Hearst Corporation startup, Skiff. Utilizing his extensive mobile industry experience, Joel worked to integrate mobile functionality into the ereader, including the selection of optimized hardware and software and executed a pioneering MVNO deal with Sprint. He also supported the sale of Skiff to News Corporation in May, 2010.  Joel also previously served as Head of Mobile with Sony Connect, a division of Sony Corporation of America, and oversaw multimedia product development for Alltel (prior to its sale to Verizon Wireless) where he developed all facets of the go-to-market approach for over-the-air mobile music.

Joel has an MBA from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, and a BA in history from the University of Vermont.
